A brief description of the films you can expect this fall is included below:

The Apprentice

When Aiman, an ambitious, 28-year old Malay correctional officer, is transferred to the territory’s highest-security prison, he quickly catches the attention of the seasoned chief executioner, Rahim. Aiman’s desire to become the hangman’s apprentice, however, is not only professional, but born of an unspeakable urge to reconnect with a haunted past. Far from being a conventional prison film, this slow-burning psychological thriller provides a stunning look at all the lives affected by capital punishment.

In Malay with English subtitles. Unrated.

The Ardennes

Brothers Kenny and Dave are two Flemish hoodlums whose criminal ineptitude results in Kenny taking the fall after a heist goes wrong. Four years later, Kenny is out of prison, but things have drastically changed. His girlfriend, Sylvie, has moved in with his brother, Dave, and is pregnant with his baby. Eventually, Kenny’s feral impulses put the brothers on the wrong side of the law again, leading to an ominous collusion with Kenny’s old cellmate amid a gallery of bizarre characters in the forests of the Ardennes.

Flemish and French with English subtitles. Unrated

My King

Admitted to a rehabilitation center after a serious ski accident, Tony becomes dependent on the medical staff and pain relievers while looking back on a turbulent relationship she experienced with Georgio. Who is this man that she loved so deeply, and how did she allow herself to submit to this suffocating and destructive passion? For Tony, the physical work of healing my finally set her free.

French with English subtitles. Unrated.
