Earth Week

April 04, 2019

Happy Spring! In April, people all over the country celebrate EARTH DAY. This year, it takes place on Monday April 22nd. Here at HCC, we will be celebrating all week in the Commons area with activities. We want to put a few opportunities on your radar:

  1. We will be collecting clean, dry mascara wands in the Commons from April 22-26. These wands can be recycled to groom animals at Wildlife Rehabilitation centers. Check it out here: https://www.appalachianwild.org/wands-for-wildlife.html
  2. We will also be collecting plastic bags to recycle. Bring in your pile of left-over plastic shopping bags, and we will exchange them for a FREE cloth reusable bag (while supplies last).
  3. We will have community garden plot applications available for students and staff. This is a cheap way to grow your own food over the summer. Student plot fees are as low as 10 dollars.

Think spring!
