Requesting Articles

Requesting Articles Through the Databases

Using the Library’s EBSCO or Gale Databases, find the article you would like to request (note, you must have the “Full Text” filter turned off to access ILL articles).

  • Click on the “Request Item via Interlibrary Loan” link.
  • Under “How to Get It” click “Sign In"
  • Sign in using your StarID and Password
  • Under “How to Get It” click “Resource Sharing”
  • Scroll to the bottom of the request form and click “Send Request”
  • Click “Submit Request” button
  • A copyright notification will appear
  • You must click “I Agree with the Terms” to complete your request
  • If you do not click “I Agree with the Terms” the request will not send.

Most articles are available from the University of Minnesota and are sent electronically via email to students’ HCC email address. These are generally available within 2-3 days. You will receive an email with a link to the article. Others (not owned by U of M) will take longer. If the article can not be sent electronically, a hard copy will be mailed to the library and you will be notified by email when it arrives. These will be kept at the Circulation Desk in the Library.
