Hibbing Community College has announced that former Cardinal assistant coach Bob DeNucci has been elevated to head coach of the HCC squad. Dave Bevacqua recently announced his retirement from Hibbing, creating the opportunity for DeNucci, who served as both an assistant coach and as the HCC recruiting coordinator for four seasons.

DeNucci is a 2001 graduate of Nashwauk-Keewatin High School and competed under Coach Bevacqua in his prep career. Additionally, DeNucci was a member of the 1999 N-K Minnesota State Championship American Legion team (d2) and earned State All-Tournament Team honors as a part of the 2001 N-K team that went 25-1 and placed 3rd in State. A familiar face in the MCAC Baseball ranks, DeNucci played his collegiate baseball at Itasca Community College where ICC finished as Region runner up in both seasons. DeNucci and the Vikings won the 2003 MCAC State Championship; he also played point guard for the Vikings basketball team.

Prior to his role as an assistant at Hibbing, Coach DeNucci coached at the youth, VFW and Legion levels in both the Nashwauk – Keewatin and Greenway communities, as well as serving as a player/coach at the amateur level with the Marble Mallards.

Bob resides in Nashwauk and enjoys hunting and fishing when he’s not at the baseball diamond.

Strength & Conditioning Coach

B.S. Exercise Science

North Dakota State University

I have been involved in athletics my whole life. I started in the weight room when I was in 5th grade and have been hooked ever since. I have known from a young age how important strength and conditioning is for improving in life and your sports. So that led me to eventually wanting to become a strength and conditioning coach.

I graduated from NDSU with my exercise science degree in 2018. While I was at NDSU I completed two different internships with their strength and conditioning department. The first one I did was a summer long internship where I got to be a part of helping almost all the different teams train and get ready for the next year. The second one I did was during the fall where I mainly worked with volleyball, women’s softball, and track. I also did a semester long internship in Salt Lake City under Adrian Conway. Being able to do the internship under him allowed me to be a part of 2 different Crossfit gyms and see how they ran FNX (a supplement company). It was a truly unique and wonderful experience.

Since graduating I have worked as a Crossfit coach where I was able to coach group classes, weightlifting specific classes, and do youth training. My husband and I have recently moved to the area and are settling in at our new place. We both have a passion for fitness and helping people live healthy lifestyles which led me to this opportunity at HCC. I am very excited to be a part of the program and help these teams reach their full potential.
