The Hibbing Community College Pharmacy Technician AAS degree prepares students to assist pharmacists in all functions of pharmacy services. Students graduating from the program will have a skill set to be employable in numerous pharmacy jobs, Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Registration as a pharmacy technician, and be PTCB certified.
Certified pharmacy technicians work in a wide variety of locations, and the market is continuously expanding these roles. Currently technicians are employed in community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, long-term care pharmacies, pharmacy information technology services, medication reconciliation position in emergency rooms, drug representatives, and many more positions. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean hourly wage in 2014 was $14.95 an hour, and projected job outlook is to grow by 20% from 2012-2022, faster than most careers.
Hibbing Community College's pharmacy technician program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
