Transfer Pathway Program Description
The Law Enforcement Transfer Pathway AS offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Law Enforcement bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field. Universities within the Minnesota State system include Bemidji State University; Metropolitan State University; Minnesota State University, Mankato; Minnesota State University Moorhead; Southwest Minnesota State University; St. Cloud State University; and Winona State University.
Hibbing Community College’s A.S. Degree, is a five (5) semester law enforcement program that offers the academic component in the first 4 semesters, and the Clinical Component (Skills) in the summer after completion of the first 4 semesters.The Clinical Component (Skills) is the practical application of skills needed to become a licensed Peace Officer. This program prepares students to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) exam and start careers in state, municipal, and county law enforcement agencies, as well as State and Federal government agencies!
The law enforcement program at HCC is held in an academy style setting, where cadets abide by program policies and procedures, has a modern training simulator, utilizes modern RMS/CAD Software and has an on-campus indoor firing range.
