New Student Checklist

  • Plan a campus visit. Take a tour and meet with an Admission Representative to discuss your options at HCC. Meetings can also be arranged with coaches, faculty and housing. Call (218) 262-6713 or (218) 312-1508 to set up a visit.
  • Apply to Hibbing Community College. You should receive a response within 2-4 weeks from the date your application is completed. Apply now.
  • Apply for Financial Aid. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. This form determines your eligibility for grants, work-study, and student loans. Families and students must complete tax returns before filling out the FAFSA. Apply for College Foundation Scholarships. Scholarships ranging from $200-$500 are given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or better. The one page application becomes available late December in your high school guidance office, the HCC website or HCC’s financial aid office. Fill out the FAFSA now.
  • Testing and Registration…watch your mailbox! Admissions will be sending accepted students important information regarding assessment testing requirements and registration procedures. Sign up for testing and registration as soon as possible to ensure the best course selection.
  • Apply for Housing. Submit housing deposit. If you plan on living on-campus you should submit your application/signed lease, $250 deposit and any roommate requests to the housing manager. You can request housing information at admissions@hibbing.edu.
  • Purchase books, tools and uniforms. Books for fall semester may be purchased in mid-August from the HCC bookstore. Visit our bookstore now.
  • Attend Cardinal Kickoff. The Kickoff is a new student orientation and is held the week before classes start. You will receive your student I.D., login to computer labs, meet your advisors, and get familiar with the campus.
