Apply for Housing
Whether you are new to HCC or a current student returning to Cardinal Hall, the Office of Residential Life is happy to help you through the process.
All students living in the residence hall must be admitted to HCC and enrolled in a minimum of 12* credit hours per semester.
New & Returning Students (2018-2019)
Once you have been admitted to Hibbing Community College, you are eligible to begin the on-campus housing application process. To access the housing application, you will need your StarID and password. If you need assistance with your StarID, call the Minnesota State Help Desk at 877-466-6728. Your TechID can be found on the Student E-Services main page on the top right corner, it will say “HCC ID”.
You must be an admitted student to sign up for housing.
Access your StarRez Housing Portal through Student E-Services.
- Login with your StarID and password.
- Click “Housing and Dining” in the left hand tool bar.
- You will be prompted to re-enter your StarID and password.
Once you are logged into your StarRez Housing Portal. Click on the HCC logo to access our housing application and complete all the steps until you reach “Application Status” page.
You will be able to make changes to your housing application until July 14, 2018.
Your completed application consists of submitting your signed Housing Contract and $250 housing deposit.The Housing Contract is available within the application. Applicants over 18 years of age can electronically sign their Contract within the application (you will need your TechID or student ID number). Applicants under 18 years of age will need to have a parent/guardian sign in addition to their own signature and send the form to the Office of Residential Life (instructions on how to return this form is listed on the form).
We guarantee a space in our residence hall to students with a completed housing application and $250 housing deposit. Due to the high demand for a single room, students wanting a single room are encourage to apply as soon as possible.
After you sign the Housing Contract, you will receive an email regarding how to pay the housing deposit to your HCC email address and the personal email address listed on the Personal Details page. Returning residents are also required to pay the $250 housing deposit for the new academic year. Housing Deposit is due by July 14, 2018.
There are several ways for you to make this payment.

You can request up to three (3) roommates in “My Profile” section within the application.
Roommate(s) must be confirmed by July 14, 2018 in order to bed placed in a same room/apartment. In order to confirm, each application must request each other.For example, if student A requests student B but if student B does not request student A, they will not be placed in a same room. Since you can request up to three (3) roommates, please list the person you want to share the room with as your first request.
Single Room: $2360 per semester
Double Room: $1690 per semester

Fall 2018 Move-In Information
August 23 between 9am and 4pm*
Friday, August 24 between 9am and 4pm*
Saturday, August 25 between 9am and 4pm
*If you need to bring your tool storage cabinet, you must move in on Thursday or Friday.
All residential students (new and returning) are required to attend the Housing Orientation Meeting on Saturday, August 25 at 4pm. More information regarding this meeting will be sent to you with your housing assignment.
Q: When will I be notified of my housing assignment?
A: Your housing assignment will be emailed to your permanent email address and personal email address on or around August 1. This email will include your check-in information.
Q: How can I pay my housing deposit?
A: Within 24 hours after you submit your online application, you’ll receive an email with the instructions on how make your deposit payment. Returning students are required to pay the housing deposit. They do not carry over to another year.
Q: What do I need to do if I need to cancel housing?
A: You need to email firstname.lastname@example.org by July 14, 2018 to cancel your housing without any penalty. Please read the terms and agreement on the application.
