Sara started her college career at Mesabi Range College where she played both volleyball and basketball. She graduated from Mesabi Range with her A.A. degree and then transferred to UW-Stout and earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Sociology. She continued her education at UW-Stout and earned a M.S. in Guidance and Counseling K-12 certification. She spent the next five years as a Guidance Counselor and Volleyball and Women's Basketball Coach within the Minneapolis Public Schools. She then moved back to the Iron Range and spent 3 years as a Counselor in the St. Louis County schools and then 1 year at Eveleth-Gilbert High School. Sara then took a job at Mesabi Range College. She spent her first 6 years as a Counselor and then has since transitioned into her current role as a Sociology and Psychology instructor at Mesabi Range. During that time Sara spent three years as an Assistant Volleyball Coach and Mesabi Range and then 6 years as the Head Volleyball Coach at Cherry High School.
Sara is happily married to Brad Matuszak and they have three children of their own and one foster child. Sara is passionate about education and athletics and the profound difference both can make in an individual's life.
